Why Malcom Todd has been living rent free in my head.
Every once in a while, you find an artist who somehow makes music that feels like it was written specifically for your life. For me, that artist is Malcolm Todd.
I first started listening to him casually, but somewhere along the way, he became one of those artists I play without even thinking about it. His music has this almost effortless blend of indie, pop, R&B, and bedroom-produced charm that feels both polished and personal at the same time.
What I love most is how his songs sound honest. Nothing feels overly dramatic or manufactured. His music captures the awkwardness, excitement, confusion, and nostalgia that come with being in your twenties. One song can make me want to drive around at night with the windows down, and the next can have me staring at the ceiling contemplating every life decision I've ever made.
There's also something incredibly addictive about his production. The layered vocals, funky guitar parts, and catchy melodies somehow manage to be chill and memorable at the same time. I'll hear a song once and then find myself humming it for the rest of the week.
Maybe that's why I keep coming back. Malcolm Todd's music feels familiar without being boring. It's comforting without being predictable. It feels like the soundtrack to late-night thoughts, creative projects, and those random moments when life suddenly feels like a movie.
This isn't a formal review or a carefully crafted critique. It's simply an appreciation post for an artist whose music has been on repeat for far longer than I'd like to admit. It doesn’t hurt that I think he is pretty freaking cute too. I want to do a separate post for his sister Audrey Hobert because although they’re so similar I love them both for two different reasons and want to give Audrey the spotlight she deserves of course.
So anyway if you need me, I'll be listening to Malcolm Todd for the hundredth time. Probably Audrey too, sue me. (see what I did there?)
XOXO, Abbigaile
